Exhibition

For those of you who would like to know what's going on with my exhibition, visit http://www.residence-gallery.com/now.htm . It's just a short write-up with a sample of our work, but just an appetizer to the pictures that will come after the exhibition. I hope all this stress and worry is worth it!

Without You, Is There Still Me?

It just took a longer linger than usual in the cubicle
And I broke down into tears.
Why did you have to be so hostile?
Your unkind words stung so deeply
Am I so weak?
If so, I do not like the person I've become.
So helpless, not knowing what to do with myself.
Though you are the one who is away
I feel as if I am the person who is missing
Without you, is there still me?

Panic!

After being on holiday(mentally, at least) for the past month, I have officially done nothing related to any of the schoolwork assigned to me. I have, still been sketching, but am definately lacking in the motivation to do what's necessary. One more week and it's back to school. No more extra moolah from work for me then!

This is taken of me(or rather, my boots) splashing in a puddle when Lee and I went out last week to take pictures for his 'weather and people' project. There is another one, which has me trying(because people were staring, and it was I was trying so hard not to laugh...) to look miserable at a bus-stop, holding a 'I Love Summer' sigh. Yes, it IS dead cold winter here....

7th January 06 : Of Men & Me

Halo celebrated his 35th birthday just three days ago. And he looks not a day over 25!Whenever I gaze closely to his face and scrutinize the invinsible wrinkles, I just love watching him smoothen it out in panic and then pass me a dirty look after catching on my joke. (:

With my bad sense of direction, I managed to steer my way to Soho's Costa, where we were meeting after work, and ended up meeting a whole bunch of people at once! There must have been about ten to twelve men...and me of course! The birthday boy got Metadent toothpaste from a friend and let me tell you, we've never seen anyone so close to orgasm just receiving American toothpaste(he's been looking for it for the past 2 years!)! He also received books...and my lil tokens were: a tee which I printed myself, a lil table clock and a big bar of sheep's milk chocolate which I bought from Germany. After hanging around at the cafe, some of us hungry ones suggested going for dinner and we ended up at some pretty posh-looking place called Kettners. I felt kinda out-of place, but Paul (red hoodie) assured me that he knows the people who work there and it's fine. We all got chatting about all of Halo's previous sexcapades, which was very funny considering we tried to figure out which boyfriend came before or after the other...and concluded we couldn't keep track of em all! Dinner was fab(thanks Halo!), the company was so adorable, I've not laughed so heartily like this for a long time! My very favourite people on that day were Paul and Steven(topmost pic-Steven really reminds me of Jack from Will & Grace)and of course, Halo(middle pic, who, was suprisingly sober after 35 shots of Sambuka?). After the big meal, we ordered a fudge cake for the birthday queen with a candle on it...and sang aloud the ceremonial song, putting the whole room to shame! A somewhat emotional Halo then gave a speech (which he had trouble keeping short..heh...)and we toasted somemore...

Ended up getting home in the wee hours of the morning-after the boys waited with me for my nightbus(you guys are so sweet!) and had to drag myself out of bed in the next few hours for work...which..I haven't recovered since...zzz...zz..z..

Quick Flashback: My Date With Hweeli & Ash

This was one of those meetings that sometimes make dinner a little bit more complicated.I am,always apprehensive of meeting new people,I don't know why, but especially when they're my friend's new beau,I become extra-cautious. But this was one of the successful ones and I'm so happy for her!

Our plan was to go for Japanese food that night, I walked over to Chinatown from work and met them at Okawari(which means, 'one more'...), my new-found favourite restaurant. It has a nice atmosphere, good variety of food...agedashi tofu...agedashi tofu...oopS, sorry...and relatively good prices. MMMmmm..agedashi tofu..(I must stop this soon, before Luisa's insanity for jap food has really rubs off on me!). Dinner was good, browsed around Boots awhile looking at cosmetics with Hweeli while Ash tries to pass his sneeze-germs to me so I'll get sick too! Hah...wat an impression! But had a good laugh and with good food in the tummy, who dare's complain?!!

I must really apologise for being very neglective of this space. But I'll try to recall the very exciting moments as detailed as possible, so I don't miss out on anything. So here goes: This is the first one.

Quick Flashback: Premiere of 'In Her Shoes'
Date of event: 17 Nov 2005

I went shopping-mad (hehe...) for this event. The dress code was-glamorous shoes...so..I searched the whole of the high street (with Luisa in tow), for the perfect pair AND outfit. It was very frustrating, coz the ones I liked, didn't exist in my size. I hate having such small feet!!!!!

Anyway, I managed to settle on a pair of Faith shoes, very classic black and pretty, but come the day of the big do itself, I decided to opt for comfort instead. I mean, why splash out on a pair of £50 shoes(which I later returned for a refund), if they don't even fit right?!! So I went for the smart-casual look(nothing snazzy), with my ever-dependable burgandy pointed-maryjane-kitten heel, with fitting Levis and a nice shirt Misao lent me. Kept the make-up very simple, tied up my hair, and accessorised with my sis' old pearl and chain necklace. Vintage stuff, ok?! To finish off, the shoes matched my velvet vintage Dior jacket perfectly.

Mr P. was my escort, smart in almost the same ensemble, black fitted shirt, jeans, black shoes. I would like to think that we looked snazzy, but not overdone. Heee...

When we got to Leicester Square, there were loads of people waiting for the celebs to come, and unfortunately, very nerve-wreckingly, the only way in, was to go on the red carpet! Gosh, I was shaking like a leaf inside, I was a wreck! Mr P. tried to stop me from blazing through, but to no avail! When we finally got in, everyone else was dressed so glamourously, which, I felt was not really a need(god, I'm so practical, aren't I?)- you can tell that they got their hair and make-up done, got a new dress...etc. A little too much, we thought. Plus, after some time, we decided that it was turning out to be too much of a 'Oh,look at me, aren't I fabulous?!!'. Which, to us, most of them looked pretentious and idiotic....just to watch a film?!!

The film was okay, got a packet of Maltesers and a drink,....well, it was better than we thought. Afterwards, we headed out (after some confusion) to find the way to the hotel ballroom where the reception and afterparty was held. The place was definately posh, if I can recall it later, I will add it in. We were served canapes and there were waiters and waitresses coming around with food and wine every five minutes, while the Breast Cancer Charity auction for celebrities' shoes was going on. Alas, not feeling very in place, we left earlier (after he's already stowed away a couple of beers) and was handed goodie bags (which included:an EE Cummings poem from the movie, lip gloss, In Her Shoes-the book, vouchers from Nine West, FCUK body lotion...etc) at the door.

A very once-in-a-lifetime experience for me, I must say!

Me trying to take a picture of myself, not very successful, but the one we took together in the ballroom didn't come out clear,so this had to do.
